Sustainability Award finalist CMI Orchards furthers climate-positive programs
On the leading edge of regenerative agriculture initiatives, two U.S. companies have earned global recognition for their sustainability efforts: CMI Orchards and Applegate Farms.
The two suppliers of natural and organic products were among four U.S. companies that Ecovia Intelligence, a London-based consulting firm, recently named as finalists for the Sustainability Pioneer award in the agriculture category.
CMI Orchards has rolled out a series of sustainability initiatives in recent years that together represent significant progress in the company’s efforts to protect the environment.
The company’s regenerative journey began with The Soil Center, a partnership launched in 2022 between CMI Orchards and Royal Family Farming. The Soil Center takes agricultural byproducts from orchards, row crops and animal agriculture operations and transforms them into soil amendments, creating a circular system that improves soil health, reduces waste and sequesters carbon, says Catherine Rose Vejvoda, sustainability and communications manager, CMI Orchards.
